Risk Reporting Automation
2018 – 2022
Identified and built full automation of a manual, Excel/email-based risk-reporting workflow, without dedicated engineering support.
Impact
- ›Replaced an entirely manual, Excel/email-based reporting workflow end-to-end
- ›Owned automation end-to-end — ingestion, report generation, and distribution — over 4 years
- ›Contributed to materially reducing the operational headcount required for the function
This was the project that pulled me from risk analysis into engineering — identifying that a manual process was the actual bottleneck, and building the automation myself since there was no dedicated engineering support for the team.
The problem
A business risk team was running its reporting entirely manually — Excel spreadsheets, email distribution, and the operational overhead that comes with both. As the team scaled, this didn’t scale with it.
What I built
I identified the automation opportunity and built it myself in Python, SQL, and Alteryx: automated data ingestion, report generation, and downstream distribution, with Tableau dashboards replacing static periodic reports with real-time visibility into key risk metrics. I owned this end-to-end over four years, scaling it as the team’s reporting needs grew.
